Groups FAQ's

You've got questions, we've got answers.

Here are the top 10 questions we get about Groups.

Why should I join a group?

No matter where we are in life, we all need meaningful relationships — people we have fun with, feel safe with, and make us better. But these relationships can sometimes be hard to find. Joining a group is a great way to make new friends and grow in your faith.

What type of groups are available?

We know that people have a variety of needs. This is why we have a variety of groups! A variety of brand-new groups launch every January and August.

We have groups for men, women, couples, young adults, as well as topical groups that address specific felt needs. We also have groups designed to help you grow deeper in your faith and equip you for different areas of leadership in your life.

Not ready to join a group just yet? Be sure to check out our Meetups! Meetups are one-time events where people engage around a shared common interest.

Where do groups meet?

Most of our groups meet in-person either at Northpoint Church or in homes throughout our community.

What happens at a typical group meeting?

Every group can look a little different, yet still offer the same key components. Groups typically include time for connection, learning, and application around real life topics that are focused on encouraging people to pursue authentic community and spiritual growth. We also believe that it’s important to prioritize having fun together as a group.

Am I going to have to talk or can I just sit and listen during group?

A group can become like family – sometimes you talk, sometimes you listen. No one is forced to talk or answer questions. We all move at a different pace and you are allowed to do just that. To get the most out of group, we encourage everyone to share and discuss as they feel comfortable, because the more discussion that takes place within the group, the better the group experience.

Is childcare provided during group meetings?

It depends on the group. If a group does have childcare, typically the group leaders and members will work together to find a childcare provider and the cost is split between those who utilize it.

Do I have to attend Northpoint Church to join a group?

Absolutely not! We want you to feel as though you belong to a community that is supportive and welcoming and if your first experience with that is a group, we are thrilled!

How do I join a group?

We have two big group launch seasons every year in January and August. During these times you'll find a variety of groups available. We also launch other specialized groups throughout the year. More information can be found here. If you can't find a group that works for you, let us know, we're here to help (groups@npaustin.com).

I signed up for a group, now what?

A leader from that group will reach out with further details about the group. Make sure you check the email you used to sign up.

How do I lead a group?

We are so glad you asked. Today it’s easier than ever to lead because we’re providing everything you need, including coaching, training, curriculum resources, ideas for socials, and so much more. We provide the plan, the training, and the support. You provide the leadership.
